World of Warcraft Item Upgrades The upgrade of an item can be used to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may increase the rarity of an item or mark Level and boost additional stats. Each item has a track to upgrade it. item upgrades increases the cost of the next one by a set amount. Item Level The value of an item's stats base increases when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high depending on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to the fact that many perks have to be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded. It can also be used as a gating requirement while queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It can also be used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use as PvP is restricted at lower levels. Players can view their average level of item on their character sheet. The level of an item will allow players to compare the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's an excellent indicator of an item's quality and how much damage it will be capable of causing. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when looking at the inventory of a vendor. The item level can be checked by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat. There are several theories on how the calculation of the item's level is made. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that determines the amount an item's stats are worth. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different values and that gems in sockets add to the value of the item overall. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is typically close to the actual Blizzard level of the item. It's not the only thing that affects the value of an item. The level of the area where the item was dropped can change its stats. For example it can add a level to the item's haste or crit score. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more ilvl than those from lower-level instances. Item Stats The item's stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game utilizes them in a variety of ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The stats of a base weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modification which are then enhanced by the player's level. Upgrades to the item add by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas items with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times at higher prices. Another method of altering the stats on an item is to use affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The affixes could provide the item additional damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or reducing the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by giving an exclusive name to the item. All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other rerolling options. Players can upgrade an item with a specific stat or reroll attaches. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the item level, but every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within the range, unless it is a unique item or an item that is a God roll from a boss in a raid. Another thing that could be altered by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. But as with base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item level, and the item compare interface will not show all the stats that could be that were gained or lost at the same time. Item Luck The Luck stat of a player boosts the probability of obtaining items as well as the properties generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It gives players a chance to upgrade their equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more beneficial in the early game than later ones as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain. Luck can also boost the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing. Armor, shields and weapons can be created or spawned using the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to increase the value of 40 luck, or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140. Certain items, such as the weapon that is infused with hollow, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any ability that causes damage by five percent. These items can be purchased from the shop, or they can be made using the correct ingredients. Item Failure Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it fails. When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased as high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%. The luck of an item may affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has an overall success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5%. The item upgrade overlays are rendered above the items in the inventory. This may obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
